Agripellets has developed the Harvest premium wheat straw based fuel pellet by combining straw with other agricultural crop by-products and additivies to improve pellet durability and combustion properties.

By combining quantities of oil seed rape cake and glycerol, both byproducts in the production of biodiesel from oil seed rape, Agripellets has been able to produce a pellet with a similar net calorific value and durability as wood pellets.

This product offers an economic alternative to wood pellets and offers the following advantages over standard straw pellets:

• easier handling
• low dust
• higher calorific value

These pellets are now available and are targeted at the domestic, smaller industrial, commercial and public sector markets. Agripellets has received funding from the Home Grown Cereals Authority to develop and market this product.
